Shingles or some other rash?

Hi 3 weeks ago i got hospitalized for appendicitis, im 21 was 20 at the time.. i had a rash for about 2 weeks prior, so had it well over a month now, well it started round the side of my right hand side and has spread through and past my belly button and has reached my pubic hair line, its NOT PAINFUL, it itches sometimes but not that bad, its not blistered either, its like a curved line that stops at the middle of my stomach and runs down to my pubic hair in a very thin line, literally as thin as a pencil line, but the rash above is about 1-2inches wide until it reaches my waist line.. while i was in hospital they said it looked like shingles but havent had any sort of treatment they just put me in a private section with a bed and TV. while i was in hospital i got 3 little red marks on my bicep on the same side of my body.. since leaving hospital it has changed from 3 little marks to a rash down my whole arm from my bicep to wrist, both rashes are on my right hand side, very rarely itch, not painful but they skin does peel abit on my belly but not on my arm.. is it even possible to have this skin problem without pain because when i search it it comes up saying very painful and my mum knows like 10 people that have had it and it was really painful to the point where they were bed bound for weeks.. mine had been present for 5weeks at minimum and doesnt look like its going to get any better anytime soon.. post your experiences below. to me the rash looks more like the RIGHT HAND photo of these two photos but in a long curved line https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=psoriasis&client=opera&hs=OS1&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwic0dSprbPcAhWmKcAKHY46D64Q_AUICigB&biw=1880&bih=970#imgrc=bqj21UMe2rAA0M:

Josh this sounds like shingles to me. I too get a red spot on my right leg that itches but doesn’t hurt. It started that way for me a few yrs ago.  Had it stopped there I would be fine but over time the pain showed up without anything red on my right rib cage and then over time it it spread to my right hip and right quad. The only advice I have for you is to start the antivirals. If you weren’t prescribed them, ask for them. If you get on them early in the future, it may help. Every case is slightly different but treating shingles is pretty much the same. Good luck. Get rest and reduce stress if possible.

    Hi Josh,

I had shingles on my forehead - I had a headache for a couple days but that was about it in terms of pain. Like you, mine itched sometimes but really not bad at all. You probably should see your doctor - I'm surprised they didn't put you on an anti-viral while you were in the hospital, but the sooner the better from what I've learned. Do you have any other symptoms? A week before I broke out I had flu-like symptoms - body aches, a little bit of nausea and fatigue. The body aches and fatigue have continued (about 4 weeks now) but I am feeling better as the weeks go on. Do you have any numbness where the rash is? Mine is pretty much healed but I notice that when I press on the area I have no feeling on that part of my skin. However, if I apply too much pressure I get pain behind my right eye, which makes sense because that is where the nerve pathway is traveling.

    Josh,

As you are only 21 years old, it is possible to have shingles without much or any pain, especially in younger individuals. Shingles first appears as vesicle-blisters in crops or waves over a period of 5-7 days on a red base in a dermatome pattern usually on one side of your body. The vesicle-blisters fluid turn white, then scab over, within a period of 3- 4 weeks. You should see a physician immediately for a diagnosis and treatment, whatever the rash is.

    Best Wishes

    Merry Juliana
