Shingles spots after blisters

i am just coming to the end of the 4th week of shingles. The rash came and blistered, dried up, stabbed dropped off but then more itchy spots, much smaller and not fluid filled. The pain has gone but the itching and rash is still there. Got some antihistamine from Doc but shouldn't it all be over by now? What are these new spots? Can anybody help?

First, I am so sorry you are going through this process with Herpes Zoster Shingles. Without seeing the rash, I cannot be certain, but if the rash is in the exact location of the shingles and is behaving like the shingles, ie itching and/or burning like the shingles did, you are having a recurrent episode of Herpes Zoster Shingles. I would ask my physician for another supply of an antiviral, but ask for Famciclovir 500mg p.o. for 10 days, as sometimes the virus is more resistant to Acyclovir, and Valcyclovir is based on Acyclovir.
Use cold compresses or ice with cloth on the rash to help you with the itching and burning. Heat makes it worse. Avoid hot showers or baths.
Also, Solarcaine with Aloe Vera might help topically, as well.
You probably are experiencing fatigue and exhaustion, which can continue for months after the rash and pain disappears. My suggestion is that you get a lot of rest and sleep. You cannot power through this disease.
I am a Nurse Practitioner in the States and have had Herpes Zoster Shingles in my right ear every three to five weeks for the past twentyone years and twice in my eye.
Best Wishes
Merry Juliana

thank you for your msg Meryl. These new spots are not the same, not blisters or painful. Very small spots like an allergy. Can't see Doc til Tuesday so will see what I'm like by then. Very worried, thanks for the tip about Famcicolvir I'll ask for that.

I am glad I read your post because I am six weeks now and rash is dried up but rough and red. Still having problem with my hip and thigh feels frozen and a bit painfu when I walk. But the most I am dealing with is the exhaustion, I have my shower and get dressed then I am ready for a rest. I am retired and can rest as much as I need but feel like I need to get out and do more. Nerve pain is gone so that's a relief but thought I should have more energy now. My doctor said mine was the worse shingles that she had seen

I had shingles in November and December. I seem to be sleepy ALL the time and I usually get nine hours of sleep per night. I'm retired so I can rest a lot. I don't hurt but I'm just SOOOOOO sleepy. This may not be a result of shingles but I didn't notice it until now.

I too have itchy spots that are not the same as the first spots and they are itchy I had little itching with the shingles but the pain was horrendous.
Merry, is right with what she is saying but as you probably know needs must and most of us need to work . The rest definitely helps.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

Thank you for your msg I am retired so don't have to work thankfully. Also not too sleepy unless taking palinkillers which I don't seem to need anymore. These spots are very different from the shingles blisters, just little spots, no pain only itching. Can't see a Doc til Tuesday so will see what they're like by then
