Shingles twice this year!

Posted , 1 user is following.

I developed shingles on on my right side at the waist on January 1 this year but it took ages for me to be prescribed Acyclovir, probably because of the lock down and New Year bank holiday. Subsequently I have now developed it again but on the left side at my waist. The right side outbreak is still painful and I was prescribed amitriptyline which I am loathe to take as they had a strange effect on my husband when he took them for neuralgia.

What are the effects of this medication? Does it help to clear up the shingles or just help with the pain?

Any help would be much appreciated. I am a 84 year old woman.

I know I am replying to my own post. Did anyone read the report that some people have developed shingles after having the Pfizer Covid vaccination? When I got it early this year I had had the jab about ten days before and when I got the second jab shingles appeared after about three weeks. Very strange!
