Shingles vaccine

I am very confused 😕 why do we need shingle vaccine? If we have got the outbreak of shingles; aren't we already-obviously- developed the antibody to this virus?

Isn't that what vaccine is??

Can someone elaborate on this please.

    Hi Tay!

That is my understanding of the immune response, as well. I had the Zostavax that did NOTHING to help with the frequency of recurrent episodes of Herpes Zoster Shingles, nor did it lessen the pain of the episodes. I had the Zostavax at the encouragement of my physician, stating it might boost my immune system.

I am hoping the Shingrex with the adjuvant might be able to help those of us with recurrent episodes of Herpes Zoster Shingles. As Shingrex is a killed vaccine, it can't hurt anyone, so why not try it, once it comes out?

    Best Regards
