My hip replacement did not last long only three years and got worse and worse. I was very unlucky with my hip revision. I ended up with two operations at the same time. One for my hip and another for a shattered femor which happened during the operation and I blame the surgeon. I was badly cut up with
63 stitches. A rod and two bolts put in and I have ended up going to another hospital to sort the problem out. I am in constant muscle pain and I have had to spent money on a private physio and an austeopathe. This happened at the Whittington Hospital. I was ver ill during the surgery my kidneys packed up and I was dyhydrated as well as needing to blood transfusions. I have been hearing how lucky some people have been with their hip revisions. I also caught an infection in that ward.
I am very suspicious of the surgeon
who did the operation because I have been hearing of other people going into the Whittington for a hip
replacement and ending up with fractured femors. I feel that something is going badly wrong in the authopediac department that needs investigating. This happened
In September 2017 and I am still having problems with walking and going up and down.stairs. The pain worries me because I feel that there must still be something wrong.

I went thru revision and it can be quite a difficult complicated procedure . In my case the femoral bone was cut in 3 places - a osteotomy . This is the normal removal technique for the primary xplant to be recovered .Had a fracture in femor before osteotomy was done to remove the old xplant due to loosening of the primary implant caused by corrosion in the neck area of the joint. Lost tissue from pseudo tumors, fracture in the greatortotancher, cerclage system added in revision to hold the fractures in place to help stabilized the area by bone growth on the new femoral component. And other issues that were difficult to overcome. Blood transfusion, my own was donated before surgery, & blood pressure low , both were always there thru three THR.
At first it seemed like a huge challenge to just move like climbing the highest mtn. It gets better thru time and healing takes longer to recover from revision and your still under a year. I would bet my new shinny hip that another 6 months you’ll be in a much better place.
Do you know the manufacture of your xplant ? Check with online info.ask for OP REPORT.
I sympathize with all that you have endured throughout the years and revision isn’t for sissies! It takes endurance and determination. We are strong and life can get back to a new normal.Struggling thru this process can be tough, you can get thru to a better quality of life .
Hopefully you can continue to regain strength and never give up .Push to get better results no matter what ...you deserve a good outcome. Ask PT for ZERO-G treadmill, zero gravity. Helped me recover so much better than water therapy. Google it and it’s on YouTube.
I wish you all that you you need to sustain you thru this journey. Keep posting on your progress.
🤗 Hope

There are a few centers across the country that specialize in difficult revisions. This might be a solution for you.
