Shock wave therapy to help pillar pain? Does it work?

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hi has anyone tried shock wave therapy to reduce pillar pain or what I think is pillar pain.  I have a hard lumpy area around my scar and either side and it hurts to change gear use a knife whilst eating etc as digs into this area. My surgeon isn't too interested and says it's mild pillar pain but feels like a mass in Palm of hand. Has anyone experienced this and does it go in time?  Or - has anyone tried shock wave therapy that has been beneficial. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks Ali

Used TENS and it did help but it depends on the individual. Yes it will go in time just gently massage the area with a cream such as E45 which will help break up the lump

Thanks for getting back to me. It's going on 10 weeks now -  is that quite normal and has stayed the same for at least 5 weeks?  It is quite a swelling - like half an egg!!

Yes, Mine was that size for a couple of months and took about a year to go completely. Depends on the individual though as to how long, size etc. If worried speak GP though
