Anyone shoot smaller rifle or pistol for sport after the operation? If so how long after the surgery did you wait?

    Hey Rg,

Good question as my 16 year old is interested in going to a shooting range to fire a rifle and/or other type of gun. He is a gamer and knows his stuff, I told him I shot a rifle and crossbow when I was in the Scouts years ago as a teen. I'd love to do this with him but am concerned if this will have any ill effects on my current condition (thoracic aortic aneursym, 4.5cm).

Well, yesterday only four months after surgery I went out shooting some pistols and an AR rifle with my wife & her sister. Later that evening I felt some chest discomfort. The pain was like sharp rips in the chest area probably where my chest plate is healing.  I took a couple of OTC pain pills and I was fine, so today I will just take it easy.

I guess putting the pressure of holding my arms extended and taking the impact of the recoil caused it. I definetly would not be ready to try a shotgun. It just goes to show me that I need more time to heel.
