This morning, husband and I, with shopping trolley and walking stick took:bus: :to city In and out of shops, and the trolley got rather full :puff: Got to an escaletor to get down to ground level... :boing:

husband that was behind me, with trolley and walking stick..lost balance, because he was not holding rail......and fell backwards with trolley and stick and legs upin the air... :boing: The escalator kept going...! And two lovely ladies rushed to help . I was in a real panic, and it was so very lucky that his jacket had not been pulled in as the steps disappear so fast ! I thought he could have brocken an arm or leg. But he has been very lucky. He is now nursing a beautiful bruise on his back, and some on his arm. It was a shocking experience, as I could not help much as my arms are not too strong, since PMR. Tomorrow he will have to have Paracitamol for breakfast...What a day !  I think I feel  :? and will go to bed hoping to have a good sleep  Will keep in touch ! :rainbow: Granny Mossxxx

    Dear Granny Moss

They say things happen in threes and I think (I hope) you've now completed the trio. A shock for both of you, I'm sure, but thank goodness your hubbie was not more seriously hurt - I hope he doesn't wake up feeling too stiff tomorrow.......if so perhaps a couple of Ibuprofen tablets may. Was there not a lift there for you :?: Amazing that although you must be feeling very shocked and upset, you still haven't lost that wonderful sense of humour.....and that you manage to sleep well tonight and have a really easy day lined up for tomorrow.

I loathe escalators and always have. When using any underground I tended to walk down the middle. But when going up, stuck to the lhs like glue and heaved a sigh of relief when I got off.

If I had a suitcase I put it on the step in front of me and picked it up at the last minute.

If Hubby's bruises are bad arnica both cream and liquid can help break the bruising up. He will be your technicolour husband for a while.

    Oh Granny Moss

You are both going to have to be careful !! I hope your husband feels OK today he will have to rest and you will have to give him a massage !!

My mother hated escalators and would only go on them if my husband held on her !! never trusted me so we were always looking for lifts

Take care and hope you both are feeling better today

[color=green:2bc3393a7c]Granny Moss[/color:2bc3393a7c] I admire you humour and resilience but PLEASE take care, What happened to your husband would shake a thirty year old and the anxiety about him isn't what you need, either.

I'm glad there are no escalators where I take my trolley; it's all I can do to steer it safely past other people on the flat!

Do hope you don't feel too much reaction ( just enough to make you extra careful ). Love BettyE

Oh Granny Moss...... how awful for you both  These escalators are accidents waiting to happen........ have been involved in two incidents with helping elderly people who fell while trying to get onto them having lost their balance....... both took place in our M&S strangely :?:

Hope hubby is not going to be too bruised and sore tomorrow and that you both have a calm and peaceful nights sleep smile

Think you have both had your share of misfortune recently and now need some calm time smile

    Hello fiftiesgirl,

How odd - the only time I nearly had an accident was on an M &S escalator! I was just stepping onto it and suddenly felt very disorientated, not dizzy, really hard to explain. I did a sort of odd step and then was fine but I thought \"That was a close one\". It was as if I saw the steps in the wrong place

I'm sorry to hear you are still having to put up with such pain and discomfort, and hope you can have a warm relaxing day tomorrow. When do you go back to see your doctor - it does sound as if you need more than 20mg

We had a really odd bit of weather this afternoon for about 15 minutes, brilliant sun the whole time, but really heavy rain finishing up with hail! The sky looked blue all round, just one black cloud above us I guess!

Sleep tight everybody, don't let the bugs bite

    Dear Granny Moss,

Now, I am going to play Devil's advocate here  ....was this another ploy to meet handsome young doctor's in the A&E department :?: :?

Seriously  , I am delighted to hear that your poor hubby did not sustain any lasting injury smile . I am barely able to negotiate escalators on my own, let alone with a trolley, and I am a fair few years your junior

Please, please be ultra careful in future......we would reallly miss your contributions if you broke an arm and were not able to use your \"Chinese\" keyboard :!:  .

    Love, , Pauline

Granny Moss What a disaster with the shopping trolly your husband was indeed very lucky. It could have been so much worse. I hope you have both got over the shock.

I have a little shopping trolly as well since I got the PMR.

When I am walking round the £ shop people are always walking in to my trolly and also people do not let you pass with a trolly. Mind you they do the same with women with pushchairs some of them look at them as if they should not be there, I always stand aside for pushchairs and trollys .

I don't over fill it because I would not be able to lift it on the bus.

Hello everyone hope you all had a good weekend :bubbly:

Good morning everyone ! smile Have not looked out of window ,yet...

Thank you for all concerns with husband's fall down escalator  He has now a nice back pain.... sad but does he know how to grumble ! I think I am going to get some ear plugs from Boots, and get some peace.... I have noticed this last two days, some stomach problem with acidity ? I have read somewhere in these posts, that lemons are good, because the acidity from them changes into alkaline ? I shall try to find some more information about it, because I do not want to get an ulcer ! Sparklyng Dancing Queen... :diva: Good for you ! As for repainting all the wall...why not do some nice murals on it ! You can copy them from magazines loveli photos ! No end of inspiration there ! Have a go ! Take care, my friends ! Love, Granny Moss.

Good morning on Valentine's Day :cupid: Granny Moss - yes, it's good......the sun is shining here and I hope it is for you and everyone looking in.

Yes, although lemons are acidic, when the juice is drunk it turns alkaline in the stomach. I drink squeezed lemon juice in warm water at the start of each day and, although I have not been able to take the stomach liners such as Lansoprazole, after nearly 4 years on Prednisolone starting as high as 40mgs, as far as I can see 8) all is well. In bad cases of gastric problems, squeezed lemon juice in water immediately before each meal can also help. I have also eaten a live yoghurt daily before taking the steroids which will have been lining my stomach for protection. Perhaps you could try either or both of these, Granny Moss, and meanwhile just look into avoiding any possible food culprits that you may have eaten before experiencing the stomach acidity - spices, tomatoes and other acidic fruits can be among the causes.

I'm sorry your poor hubby seems to be suffering the after effects of that fall - I'm not surprised he's grumbling! sad Perhaps he could try a heat pad or hot water bottle against the painful area for some relief. When you go to Boots for the ear plugs.....avoid the escalator!!

    Take special care.
