Short Leg

I was told that one leg was l centimetre shorter since my hip op. I have tried putting soles into my left shoe to compensate but no good. I've tried different heights but no luck?? Should I use the complete sole or just the heel part - need to stop limping!!

well the numbers don't lie. seems from these responses the rate of leg length differences is high. uggg... for those of you that have different lengths, is it noticeable? cause limp (i am guessing it does)?

Very much so. I apparently only have a 1cm or less extra on my op leg, but it's causing pretty good grief and the old muscle guarding etc is back. My surgeon knows I'm not dealing well with it and has given me the referral for a lift at only 4 1/2 months post op. I have been doing extra physio, though, so maybe that's why he is allowing it early...

Hi, my operated leg is longer than the other - which I think is rather odd as I'd have thought this leg would be shorter? I do not seem to be able to get the correct size lift so I've ordered some adjustable ones and hope I can find the correct size. All I want is to be limp free - UGH!!

I'd suggest an appointment with a qualified orthotics doctor, who would measure you for custom made shoes or inserts.

Hi, the Specialist I saw who 'guessed' my leg length said I did not need a shoe insert??? She just prescribed a corset so that's why I'm sussing out these on my own. I've reached the conclusion that Specialists are not always correct ha ha!!
