Short lived recovery!

I am 2 weeks post op. Just came home from my family looking after me and I turned the wrong way and heard a funny noise. I can walk on the leg without pain but have pain when I try to move my leg for hipadduction exercises.

I am going in to see my surgeon today to make sure the implant hasn't loosened.

Wish me luck!

I was doing so well and now this!

Am 12 weeks on now and still get pain in thigh sometimes it's as if muscles have seized up .

It may be nothing at all, just the muscles in your thigh recovering.  Leave the hip adduction exercises off until you have seen your surgeon.  Best wishes.

Hi Miele I would not be to concerned 7 days after my right THR I fell on the landing and heard a bit more than a funny noise it was more like a crack, the pain was extreme and my leg doubled its size, I rang the hospital and went straight there, they took several xrays and the Dr told me everything was fine and that i would be supprised just how strong the replacements are, so I got another bottle of morphine from him and after a couple of days bed rest I was back to normal.

I of course wish you luck but I think you will be ok. regards Ron

Oh no you poor soul. From everything I've read about dislocation of the hip implant you would not be able to walk around on the leg. Hope all it is is a strained muscle. Keep us posted

    Hi all!

Well after sitting 2 hours fo my surgeon the outcome is fine. All of the implant is where it's supposed to be. What a relief. Says I may have pulled a muscle or tendon.

    Thank God!

    Thank you all for replying!

yes, I seemed to always have had some kind of pain, in my thigh then traveled to above my knee, then behind my knee.  Now it is all gone.  Dr. said it was just muscles learning to use again after being stretched so much during surgery.

It must have been scary !!! I am happy for you that it's "just" a strained muscle - I have watched the surgery on You Tube (after surgery though) and really, it made me feel less afraid .... Youi will be happy you found this forum !!!! I am !
