Shortness of breath ! & Air Hunger !!!

Posted , 26 users are following.

For the past 2 months I've experienced this new symptom which is dyspnea shortness of breath. I had numerous tests. Xray of the heart and lungs and came out normal. And then I had numerous blood tests & EKG. All normal. I've also seen a cardiologist and he performed a stress test & Echocardiogram. They came out normal. Healthy heart. And last test I had was a Pulmonary Function Test which my doctor says it came out normal. Now I'm running out of answers. I've been having this shortness of breath a little over 2 months its really frustrating and scary. Feeling always the need to take deep breathing and yet I don't feel like my lungs are getting enough oxygen . I could really use some advice here. Doctors think its GAD but I think they may be missing something

I'm 25 years old no asthma problems or anemic.

Meds are

Propranolol 20mg

Celexa 40mg

Albuterol inhaler

Montalukast 10mg

Any advice is greatly appreciated . Thanks!

It does seem to help a lot especially whenever I exercise or I'm at work but once I'm to a calm state I start having the same symptoms of shortness of breath. I'm currently going through group therapy

I have been experiencing the exact same thing as you for about 5 weeks now! Short breath, difficulty taking a deep breath, it feels like my lungs dont expand really weird sensation almost as if it was asleep. Had the same test done and is all normal. What seems to help sometimes is raising my arms above my head then i take a deep breath. I too want to yawn but i cant. Its really weird. It seems to get worse when i focus on it. Slowing down my breathing works too.

Hi Luis I'm very sorry you're going through the same symptoms but they are very similar as mine so I could give you some suggestions consult to your doctor to do a pulmonary function test to make sure there's nothing wrong with your lungs once that is diagnosed and the results are negative then it gives you peace of mind it's just anxiety..

I know this sounds weird but when I feel like I can't breath or take a full breath I press down on the opening of my stomach I press in and down and this helps me.

    Hope this helps

Not weird at all, i actually also do that too. I actually hug myself so as to tighten my chest and that helps too. Doing child pose too!

Sounds like a good technique but my doctor also told me about Dr Luann Helms Breathing Excercises on YouTube she has some very good techniques on breathing exercises and it gives you a lot of relief it has helped me out a lot tremendously as well as drinking black coffee

I had the same problem. I consulted with a doctor with west and east medical background. He is MD who also understand Chinese Medicine.  He can do  acupuncture. He advised me to drink 4-5 dried Chrysanthemum Flower every day. You can steep the same flower 3-4 times and drink it on the same day.  The tea is to calm your nerve.  I felt so good the first day I tried. So far, I have not had air hunger.

He said if that does not work, then he will try acupuncture weekly for 3-4 week.

      Greg44233,

      Thanks for the feedback.

I no longer have this problem after drinking Chrysanthemum Flower daily.

I had been taking VitD and Fish Oil for few years when I had that problem.

I no longer have this problem. I still drink Chrysanthemum Flower M-F. I also do 4,6,7 breathing. I have air hunger and it caused by anxiety.

so its completly gone then? what flower do you buy? what is 4,6,7 breathing do you need this with flower supplement. -any medication you on

Yes, completely gone. I bought "chrysanthemum flower" from Chinese Herb store. You can get it from Amazon. Put 4-5 flowers, steep it and drink the tea. You can reuse the flower 2-4 times.

"chrysanthemum flower" alone got rid off my air hunger. I did not take any medication.

The 4,6,7 just to help me to reduce stress/anxiety. I followed this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz4G31LGyog

how long did it take for the flowers to stop the air hungar ? how many cups a day do you steep in? i will look at other part just get my breathing right feel i have ro keep sucking in air and gasy feeling in mouth

I steep 4-5 "chrysanthemum flower" in a cup of hot water. I have MrCoffee coffee warmer to keep the tea warm. I use the same flower 2-3 times on the same day. So I drank 2-3 cup of 4-5 "chrysanthemum flower" tea/day

The following day, I use new flowers and repeat the same process.

I felt the difference in 1 day.

You need to find a way to control your anxiety.

hi so after a day it was instantly better how many days before it went away full stop? yes picked some of these up so will give it a try why not.

so to clarify you had air hungar and irregular breathing pattern etc did you have this for long?

I had x ray, lung test and allergy test. All came good. Both lung doctor and my primary doctor told me to control my anxiety. They told me to try Yoga and meditation. So by the time I went to the east-west doctor, I was already in better shape. I learned to control my emotion. I still had the problem only milder version. "Chrysanthemum flower" tea helped me to completely eliminate the problem. I did not have this problem from the day I started drinking "chrysanthemum flower" tea. My east-west doctor said if the tea did not help, then he'd do acupunture. Luckily for me, the tea worked.

I felt that I did not have enough air. I breathed like fish . I had it for about 2 years. Coffee made it worse.
