Shortness of breath while talking

Hello everyone,
I had an A Fib episode a month ago and found out that I was dehydrated, low on magnesium, and super low on potassium. I have never had heart issues before only palpitations. I stopped caffeine but still smoke. Doctors ran bloodwork, ekg, lung test, stress test and so on with great results. Recently for the last week, when I talk to people it always feels like I am out of breath. If I exercise I am fine. It seems off but I am under some stress right now. Could this be anxiety or maybe something else? Any thoughts? I do have reflux as well.

Debbie,
This could very well be anxiety but it's never manifested in this way before. Usually I have chest tightness, clammy hands, fatigue, shakiness on occasion, can't relax, disturbed sleep but now.....I can workout or do physical work outside and be fine but when I relax I get the chest tightness and then seem to be out of breath when talking. I can deep breath and heart rate will be normal and feel fine but when I begin talking it seems like I am short on breath. Now I had an A Fib episode a month ago but they said it was most likely because of my high caffeine intake that depleted my magnesium and potassium. Haven't had an episode since. They said that me being 40 years old in otherwise good health was strange. The doctor also told me that I need to find a way to relieve my stress or it will kill me eventually lol. I have 2 jobs, fiancée with kids, and buying a house at the moment. My doctor laughed and said no wonder you are stressed out. I smoke but quit caffeine yet still worry about my heart episode that I had. I am going to see a cardiologist next week but the hospital testing said that my heart looks healthy. They did a lung test to rule out diseases. They said my stress test was better than average and my bloods came back fine 2 weeks after the hospital visit. I can't help but wonder if it's something else or just anxiety

Mine only started in December last year! I'm 49 and wham it came out of nowhere! So unhappy think I'm dying everyday! Hate my life now, I know what your going through! Just want my life back! You seem in good health I'm sure it's just the anxiety causing your symptoms, try to find a counsellor to talk to think it would help you. I'm about ready to give up 😞

Don't give up because anxiety will come and go. The key is knowing if it's really anxiety or something else. If the doctors have cleared you from medical issues than it's anxiety. I have been dealing with it for years but I am also going through many changes and it has been the most stressful time I have ever had. Most likely it is anxiety but when things settle I will go back to normal. Something must have sparked your anxiety at some point. Only a year is not a long time when dealing with anxiety. You are probably still finding ways to cope with it. I have many ways to battle it but in times like now it manifests in strange ways. I started off with dizziness, heart pounding, couldn't catch my breath, numbness, and almost passed out. That was my first attack ever. It took a while for me to learn how to deal with it.

I've had lots of bad things happen in the last couple of years, suppose what's happening now is because of that. Life's so hard , hope you feel better soon , one day at a time !!

Yes anxiety loves to strike us when many hardships hit us at one time. Thanks Debbie for your best wishes. I hope that things work out for you as well. Yammy does have a good point. It could be menopause that can be causing anxiety symptoms also.

I have no idea about menopause because I am a guy but I know that it really messes with women. Stay in touch as well. 😊
