Shot of Morphine perhaps???

I'm back! Had another episode tonight about 1:30 AM I would say. I took the recommendation of the board and used a heat pad. Did it work? Hard to say since it did took a few minutes to warm up so I did experience some uncomfortable pain. I would say that by the time the pad had really heated up I was OK. Don't really know if it was the pad or the attack just running its course. I have had an episode the last three months-November, December and now January. Not fun. Fortunately they don't last long. It has past now and I can't get back to sleep luckily I am comfortable in my chair writing at this point. My thoughts at the time of the attack were to consider which strong acting medication I could take and I came up with an intravenous shot of morphine. It would work instantaneously pretty much and zap all pain. You wouldn't have to take it that often only about once a month when you had the pain. I don't see any oral medication acting fast enough to knockout the pain when it only lasts for 20-40 minutes. Talk to everyone soon I imagine.

I mentioned the medication provided by a Consultant I saw in 2000 on an earlier thread. I've looked it up and it was Buprenorphine (sublingually) - under the tongue.

These tablets worked very quickly but for me the after effects were long lasting and included nausea and intense fatigue. So I have not continued with them. My experience with Ginkgo Biloba is continuing to look promising, but I'll wait a bit longer before posting my findings.

Is it me but i seem to have at least one attack a week. If i were to take morphine i would be a junkie within the month.

For me nothing seems to work and it can last up to an hour!

Would have thought there would be something that could be inhaled to help that would also help get back to sleep again.

My attacks are once a month the most and 6 weeks apart at times. Never less. Once I think I hade two attacks in a month but that is in 15 years. So the morphine I don't think it would be a problem. Especially a small dose administered similar to how the US combat GI's used it during WW2 to dull the pain.

Haven't been struck since February/March. I don't understand it. It has plagued me for years at least 10 that I can remember. I have had a year with nothing. I haven't changed anything in my diet. I have gone away from cheese and milk. I can't see these as being the cause. A mystery.
