If you want good reading ability in the eye, I would suggest -1.2 D as a target. If your Symfony is providing good reading vision already then -0.25 would be a good target for distance vision.

what do you consider as good reading ability? with symfony i needed 1.5 readers for computer and 2.5 readers for reading close up so pretty much like monofocal with contrast loss and dysphotpsias.

I would consider good reading ability to be able to use a computer or tablet with standard sized fonts, read paper documents, and read an iPhone.

how clearly can you see the phone? do you have to hold it afar?

I can read my iPhone 8+ quite well. If there is an issue it is with white text on a black background. I have some astigmatism in my near eye that causes a drop shadow that is more visible when the text is white on black. At times I have to remind myself to hold the phone a bit further away. I think there is a tendency to hold the phone closer to improve vision, when you have to do the reverse.

ron how is the distance vision with your -1.5 eye?

how is the video quality on on phone with at 14 inches with the -1.5 eye?

Distance vision with the -1.5 (actually in my case closer to -1.4 D) is not great. It is probably 20/40 to 20/50. Video quality on my iPhone 8+ is very good at 14" and down to 10-12"
