SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DOCTOR

Well at last I went to my appt for my knee ,, we all know our own bodies , so when so9meone tells you the pain in your knee could be from your hip your confidence dips. I knew a scan would have to be done , but no I had to have a torturous session on the X-ray table twisting every which way , and then to cap it all after explaining to the radiographer the reason I was here and that my right hip was the worst and not my left , turns out the Dr only requested x-ray for the wrong hip !!!!!!!!. I knew initially he didnt seem to grasp the problem , so after 3 hours , he says a scan will be needed and to see him again in 6 WEEKS , well I wont be letting him anywhere near my knee with a knife. Needless to say after all that my fibromyalgia is in overdrive and every part of me hurts, wont work ,so now I will have to dose myself up with painkillers and wait !!!!! ,all I wanted was a scan, not more pain and suffering, that I can do without , thanks nhs.

Have a good day all of you xx,

Hi, Lubyloo:  Doctors just don't get it with Fibro...I asked my doctor about it because I know I have it.  I hurt all over.  She said, well, doctors don't like to pinpoint it and give it a name....say what???.....if you hurt all over than something is wrong.  Could someone tell me what the best thing to take for Fibro is...I can only take one Lyrica a week, do to side effects...it effects my kidneys...I take Tramadol twice daily...is there something better out there.  I have to go to the pain clinic in a few days and I would love to know what works...thanks so much...

    Hi Lubyloo,

After over a year of pain in what I thought was a muscle connected to my knee, and an op on my knee, and many treatments and physio on my knee.....I still had the same pain.In the end I googled for the best surgeon l in knees and sports injuries.I amanaged to get a letter of referral from my GP (not easy!) and booked a consultation privately,it cost about £100 a few years ago.Immediately he knew what was wrong, my hip not my knee.I had a hip replacement op after my GP had the letter from the specialist on the NHS.Had to wait, but painfree now, still have fibro though.Good luck, but worth paying for the best diagnosis.

Hi Moyra, I know my hips are dodgy , but my left knee problem is due to me falling down 4 stairs and ending up in a bundle by the front door , that settled down but I tripped on valentines day this year and went down on tiles on my knee which aggrevated the old injury , had an op to fix the tear but it hasnt worked so now I wait to see in the scan what is going on , they wont do my hip till my knee is stable , probably finish up like the bionic woman !!!, but thanks for your help x

Pain is a strange thing though . . I had hip pain bad enough to need a crutch for about nine months. . had loads of tests, everything under the sun . .nothing wrong!  In the end, a physiotherapist sorted it out in two sessions by a very azgressive massage on the tendon which runs from the spine over the hip . . . couldn't believe it!  Nine months of agony, two sessions with an unqualified massage guy, and fixed!
