Should I be experiencing this 8months post op!?

In March 2017 I had surgery on my sesamoid bone (one closest to the side of my foot) to screw it together. I had been suffering from sesamoiditis for almost a year and 6 months at this point. I had all my post op check ups and was told I was recovering well and everything seems fine and I was to have an appointment several months from my last appointment at the start of June. 8 months since my surgery and there’s still numbness in my toe, tenderness on the scar, I still can’t put all my weight/the normal amount of weight on that part of my foot, if my toe moves too fast or stretches to far I’m in pain, if I stand for more than 20 mins I’m in pain, walking still hurts, it’s still slightly swelled and any time it comes into contact with anything at a higher speed than ‘gentle’ it’s like someone’s stamped on it.
Does anyone have any info? Is this normal? Should I go see my doctor about it? I know for at least the last 3-4 months I haven’t noticed any improvements.
It’s now been over 2 years since the original injury and I just want to get back to being the sporty person I once was! 😩
Literally any info/advice there is I would appreciate! I don’t want to go to my doctor unless completely necessary!

Oh Lindsay it looks like you are still having trouble. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Yes you should go to see your doctor. I know that going to the doctor isn't pleasant, but it is their JOB to help you recover to your true self. You are the one that is important and don't let anyone make you feel that you are not. It was a long time between your injury and the finding of a broken bone that required surgery. I do not know in your case how long it should take to get better, but if you haven't felt improvement in 3-4 months, in my opinion, that is not normal. Pain is also a clue. I didn't have to go through anything like you have but my doctor kept telling me that if my Jones fracture didn't heal properly I would need to have surgery. My 5th metatarsal healed in 8 weeks. I was in a NWB cast for 4 and then a high air boot. I could see the improvement in the xrays. I was (and am) a "sporty" 71 y/o. You will get back to normal with your doctors care. They work for you! Make them earn their pay. Do you know the old saying, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"? Be squeaky.
