Should I be on statins?

Hi, I've recently had blood tests and my cholesterol results were a mixed bag. GP wants to put me on statins but I'm not sure about this since I am a heavy drinker and have read that the two really don't go. I am trying to give up I should add. I would really like to understand more about my results though, would anyone in the know be able to comment on them? Thanks.
