Should i be worried?

Today I had a physical fitness test at school. I had to do as much push ups as I could in a minute. I also had to do as much sit ups as I could in a minute. When I was doing my sit ups, all of a sudden I couldn't feel my abdomen and I couldn't do anymore sit ups. A few hours have passed and I can't do any activity that requires me to use the muscles in my abdomen. It's as if they are paralyzed but i feel no pain. Should I be worried about this? Or should I just let it get better?

I know this might not be serious but I really want to know why I can't feel my abdomen, we will be doing this test again in 2 weeks.

Wrong forum Ricky.  This is the PMR forum (mainly for people over 50).

Your symtoms could just be "strain" - did you speak to your teacher about this?

I didn't speak with my teacher, I originally thought this was normal after working out. I became worried when I couldn't do everyday things such as getting out of bed.

I can still get out if bed, but only by using my legs and arms. I cant get out of bed, or sit up by using my abdomen muscles.

I have reposted the forum to bones, joints and muscles, and then accidents and injuries.

Though you are on the wrong forum, it sounds to me as though you have muscle strain and I certainly wouldn't advise you do any more exercises to aggravate the stomach muscles.  If you're not feeling better in a couple of days, go see a doctor.

Are they still doing that to students?  I am 64 and they did the same when I was young.  My abdomen was so sore I still remember it!  It seemed to take forever before I could use those muscles but I think it was a couple of wks.  We only did this test once a yr whether we were in shape or not.  I don't think I could have repeated it in 2 wks time.  Also don't they say now not to do situps as they are hard on the back?

I had never had or head a symptom as you describe you have .

I have CGA there are 3 years though,

I would like to be able to send a good reply in order to clarify your question.

    And about your doctor?

Did you already discuss with him this issue?

It seems to me that to look for professional help is the best option.

Hope you will get better soon.

    Take care

I haven't discussed this with my doctor, but I am now able to use my abdomen . It's a little difficult to use my abdominal muscles, but I can now use them and it gets easier every day. I appreciate the help.

It obviously was muscle strain then.  Make sure your teacher knows about it before the next test.
