10 days on sert and I’m feeling a bit more calmer than before, I still get anxious thoughts and darkness ones sometimes when will that go away? And sometimes I feel like this is all a weird dream I can’t even explain the feeling, do you guys can get like that? Like it’s not your body? I hope this will go away or do I need to increase my dose? I’m currently on 50mg is 100mg more relaxing?

      Hey rose ,

    Hey Rose,

I've had those out of body feelings here and there too. It's an odd feeling. Took me about 2 months to finally get past all the crazy side effects. Started at 50 and increased to 100 a month later. It's a trip but hopefully you'll adjust quickly. Hang in there!

    Hello Rose

It’s called depersonalisation that you are experiencing. It’s a horribly weird feeling but it should go as you progress. It can be part of an anxiety state also. It’s common for there to be black thoughts when starting setraline, it’s part of the side effects for some people.

Give the 50mg time to work and don’t rush to increase yet has been my experience. I’m not better yet but better than I was. I was involved in RTC yesterday which has set me back quite a lot today.

Give yourself time and you will feel better.

Yes rose I have had these feelings too and I think when you start a new med they can feel worse.  I personally think it’s kind of like your mind can only take so much stress and then your body takes over and shuts it down and you go into these weird little moments.  Kind of like a brain fart.  It can be really unsettling but if you really think about it, this happens all the time normally without you even really realising it.  Like when you drive home and you realise you can’t remember any of the journey, it just seems scarier when these moments happen and you are aware they are happening.  Does that make sense? I do actually call these moments brain farts.  Takes the scary right out of it if you call it something daft like a brain fart.   It’s so easy to become super sensitive to all your bodily functions when you are anxious.   You are constantly scanning your body for signs and symptoms of something scary.  THen when something does happen like a brain fart, it terrifies the life out of an already sensitised mind, just keep reminding yourself it’s just the meds, this will pass, it’s not harming me, even try and laugh at it, it’s a funny wee side effect, that’s all it is.   My biggest background fear that is always there when I panic is that this is going to be the time that I end up in a psychiatric hospital.  That intrusive thought always gets me, even typing it for me feels scary.  It’s totalky irrational because 1. I have never been in psychiatric care.  2. If I am aware that I’m worried about my mental health then that proves I can’t be crazy and 3. People don’t go insane from have panic attacks.   There are brighter days ahead for us all, we just need to keep coping and helping each other.  X

    Hi Rose

I’m 3 weeks in and still feel weird sometimes. I think you have to give it 4-6 weeks my GP said also quite a few people on the forum have stated that.

I feel worried my self when my sleeping pills finish hoping I will be able to sleep.

Look at it this way, where all suffering one way or the other. Never feel alone Rose where in it together.

Even if our symptoms are different to each other we still understand how we all feel, that’s what matters.

Hoping someone out there can give me some advice on Nortriptyline my Rhumotolist as asked my GP to give me a low dose to help me sleep, very concerned about taking it cause Of side affects. Any advice would be much appreciated. God bless.
