Should I be worried?

I had Nissan fundoplication surgery for my reflux in February 2018. unfortunately i still have reflux but the bad part is that i now have trouble with swallowing my food and even liquids sometimes.. nearly half the time it builds up in my food tube until it reaches my throat and it comes back up never having reached my stomach. i do of course eat very slowly chew a lot of drink water with my food. theres no bad side effects really and im not losing weight from it or anything but obviously its not comfortable certainly not in public when i have to run to a bathroom to spit out my regurgitated food. lts not getting better nor worse. my surgeon was a jerk and a hack (long story) and im not going back to him. i tried talking to a dr and they just asked me if i have anxiety. has anyone else experienced this. is it something to worry about. is it possible it will just eventually resolve itself over time?

This sounds like your wrap might be too tight. You might not want to go back to that surgeon, especially if that person was a hack, but you do need to get checked out. Find a surgeon and talk to them.

    Hi there

I had a nissan 18 months ago and have had all sorts of problems swallowing. your dr should put u forward for a barium swallow to see how things move through your gullet into your stomach. your fundiplication may have slipped for instance or they can dilate your gullet etc. I am on a great forum for nissan fundiplication peeps, all very supportive and very informative, try and join.

    best wishes

Hi, I'm sorry to hear thats happening, its horrible isn't it? I had a Linx procedure which is similar to your operation except they put a metal ring around the top of the esophagous. I suffered a lot in a similar way to you and what was very frustrating is that, like you they said it was caused by anxiety! (I agree that in the end it does make you anxious every time you eat but I don't think that was the cause.) Mine has been put down to esophageal spasm and I've been put on Sildenafal (similar to Viagra!) It has helped so you may want to ask about that? Also I had a dilatation where they stretched my esophagous by inflating a balloon and this has also helped massively - so I don't know if this is something that you could be done after the nissan fundoplicaton? It might be worth asking about? Anyway just a couple of suggestions, I really hope things improve for you.
