Should I change meds or stick with it??

I I'm new to the forum and have never used antidepressants before so not sure how they work so thought this forum would be a good place to find out.

I've been on sertraline now for 10 weeks started on 25mg for 3 weeks then up to 50 mg for 3 weeks and then 100mg for past 4 weeks. I'm taking it for depression and anxiety.

When I started 50 mg I started to have the odd positive day but then since increasing to 100 mg I seem to feel worse again.

I've spoke to my doctor who wants to change me to Trazadone as she says this will help me sleep as well, I wake up quite a lot throughout the night so tend to sleep in till about 11am. Thing is I've read up on trazadone and don't think it's for me do you think it's worth speaking to dr again and staying with the sertraline a bit longer?

Any advice would be welcomed.

Following! Why do you think traz isn't right for you?

      Hi mere03725

      Thanks for replying.

I've been told of a couple of friends and also read online that it is very sedating and can leave you feeling tired and groggy the next day. As I'm hoping to go back to work soon this wouldn't help me as I drive and need to be clear headed. Also I've read that there very addictive and that you feel 'out of it' on them. I want to feel better so I can motivate myself to get up and go to work so don't want to feel this way.

I'm really confused and don't know what to do.

I don't think it's addicting bc it isn't a benzo. I know my mom takes it at night and it really helps with sleep. I think it is pretty sedating so I think a lower dose is best. I do not know how it works w depression or anxiety but that is the main use of meds and sleep is a nice side effect. I wonder about it too-it sounds like it covers all the bases but it's never the doctors first choice.
