Should I get my cyst removed?

Hi all. I had an ovarian cyst measuring 7cm 2 years ago on my right ovary and had keyhole surgery in sept 2015, they couldn't remove it as when they went in it was grabbing on to my ovary and they said they would have had to take the ovary so they drained it. But the pain never left and shortly after in my follow up i discovered i had another cyst again on the right ovary, i had an ultrasound on tuesday and it is measuring 8.5cm, It is pushing my uterus and my bladder as it is so big which is causing pain and also needing to go to the toilet alot . If i go ahead and have surgery to remove this cyst there is a good chance they will remove my Ovary and i just find that really scary as im only 25 and have no kids yet. So do i get it removed or leave it there? i have my appointment with my Gyna on the 3rd October and he will be eager to know whether im having surgery or not. Thanks in advance.

Whether you get the cyst/ovary removed is you and your drs choice, but I will tell you, at age 28 I had my left ovary removed due to a huge dermoid cyst. It didn't affect my fertility having just one ovary. I have had completely normal cycles (am 35 years old now) and have been pregnant with the cyst and after having the cyst/ovary removed.
In fact, the dermoid was discovered during a c-section and they told me that ovary probably hadn't been functioning for years.
Also, there is a chance that by taking the cyst, they won't have to take the whole ovary and you can keep some of it. Even a small piece of ovary can produce eggs and hormones!
Hope you can make the decision that's right for you! Good luck!

Thanks for the reply margie.
Thats really good that you were still able to get pregnant after it!!
Do you know what the percentage was when you were going for your surgery if they would take the ovary or not? I just don't know whether to leave it there or get it removed. It could be damaging the Uterus and Bladder if i leave it in but then again it might stay there and be ok.
My gyna is really good but he doesn't give me much advise whether to take it out or leave it there because i guess it wasnt doing much harm then but now its pushing everything out of the way.

I don't know the percentage because we had no idea it was there until I was in the middle of the c-section! But, mine was about the size of a grapefruit, so I don't think there was any hope of saving the ovary at all.
Yours is 8, right? I would think that they might be able to save at least some of the ovary at that size.
I actually have a cyst on my remaining ovary as well, and I have chosen to leave it for bow, per my reproductive endocrinologist advice. Mine isn't very big yet, but will have it removed once I have one more child.
I would say, if your cyst is pushing organs around in your body, you might want to consider removal. Especially since you have another healthy ovary. But that is obviously your choice!

Oh yes. sorry!!
wow that was massive alright.
Yes 8.5 at the moment!
I think the same, the ovary might not be in a good condition now after having a cyst on it for 2 years messing it around!!
Good Luck with everything and thanks a mill for the reply
