Should I go back to sertraline, and will it work 2nd time round

Posted , 6 users are following.

So I've been well for 2 years thanks to sertraline, suffered panic attacks and depression.

3 months ago I came off my meds which took a good year of tapering.

I have been well and happy, till 2 weeks ago I had a heavy weekend of partying and boom my anxiety is back, my appetite has gone and I'm really really scared that I've made my self sick again, 😢it's no where as bad as I was 2 years ago, but it's not going away, most evenings I feel back to my self, but mornings and all day I feel the panic, and sometimes just want to cry and say I give up put me back on meds.

My counsilor said it's because of the drinking and the one off drug use I did that night of partying, that I'm sooo ashamed of.

She said it doesn't mean I'm going back to square one and not to go down med route yet anyway.

I need advise and good support from you guys plz.

If I was to decide to go back on meds will I have the really bad start up side effects as I did first time round? I'm in a new relationship now and really happy and in love, I don't want to have to go through all that with the side effects again , I know if I have to then i will, but I'm sooo scared, what if sertraline don't work this time? Is that possible?

Plz help xx

    Hi Lattifa !

Maybe you should try supplements for your anxiety??

Hope you wont have to go back on those meds!

The thing for me is that Im miserable on meds bow. Seems like my body refuse them since a year. Im on zoloft since 8 weeks but wasnt able to telerate 50mg. Few years ago it was fine for a few years... Go figure!?

I lowered at 25mg since a week and feel space and zone out much of the day. Im soooooo tired its incredible. Have also anxiety and shakiness.

Sometimes in the day I feel a little low but I think its because of all those symptoms. Im kind of scare to go off because I have been on meds for 11 years for anxiety. At the same time, it never help 100% but I was functionnal. Now since a year, I dont work and just suffer from side eff3cts from trying on med or another.

I think my body is probably telling me it has enough!?

    Yes your right!

My last GP was making lots if changes but since I see a psychiatrist, she goes slower on changes but the havoc is done so welll... I think to be off will be hard but might be better then on!!

They say GOOD quality of omega 3, magnesium, vitamin D and b complex are good for people with anxiety/depression.

I use to take them but not everyday so I will try to focus more on that.

Just read about them and you will have good information.

If you have a natural product store near you, you might want to go and ask them.

Eating well and exercises is also a must.

I began exercising even if my energy is way bellow zero.

I think if we want to make it work, we have to change some of our life style.

Morning also is a hard moment for me. Seems like I never wake up. Tired, anxious, ... Its mostly cortisol relate. Our adrenals are probably tired from all the stress. They have supplements for that .
