Should I go through with Haemorrhoidectomy surgery?

I was already booked in for surgery and cancelled just before because i lost my nerve. Reading all the stories of peoples experience has really terrified me, I just need advice about what to do I don't know what to do any more. I'm a 25yo female and have 3 small haemorrhoids which I've tried all the creams for over the years and nothings worked. 2 internal/prolapsed slightly and one sort of outside but is coming from a vein inside also. Does anyone think because they are smaller recovery might be easier or faster? will 2 weeks be enough time off work? how unbearable is the pain going to be. i just want my life back at this stage, this has ruined my life I'm nothing like the person I used to be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just do it. You will have a few uncomfortable weeks but after that you will hopefully be free of this. I know exactly how you feel, it takes over your life so get it done and get back to living!

I had 3 internal removed, one which would prolapse sometimes and 2 small and 2 random ones left in that I didn't know about. I had the op on 24/07 so 3 and a half weeks ago and I feel almost back to normal. I'm a healthy active 33yo male.

The 1st week is the worst but not as bad as you think. The bm's were honestly not as bad as I expected, just eat simply and keep things soft. I suffered a haematoma on day 8 which bled with clots for almost 1 day so ended up taking myself to a and e. That resolved in 1 day but got checked to be safe. After that I felt much better.

The only remaining issue I have is what i think is a skin tag which came out 6 days post op and remains. It is very annoying as I had nothing external pre op. They say it will reduce and it has since it appeared but it is very frustrating and I have zero patients left.

Just get a lot of info from your surgeon and make sure you take the laxitives and softner. Also ask for tramadol rather than codeine.

    Good luck!

glad to hear you're feeling better. This is gross but I'm just gonna ask, what is the situation with discharge? Does everyone get it after and if so how long is it expected to last? is it constant or just a little. Also how did you feel at day 15, do you think you could have gone back to a job that is mainly sitting?

I havent had any discharge. Only smears of blood immediately after surgery. This lasted for maybe 3 days but it wasnt a lot. I went back to work (office based) 17 days after surgery. I took 2 weeks off. Its not comfortable at all but gets better every day but I would suggest trying to get back to normal as it takes your mind off it.

The pain is bad but mainly after bowl movement. I'm just on 4 weeks and it's easing up now. If you are suffering get rid of them. A few weeks pain is better than a life time pain. They don't get better on their own
