Should I go to another Dr. for a second opinion?

Greetings,
I had my hemorrhoid surgery 13 weeks ago today. I am not where I thought I would be at this point in my recovery. I have pain with every BM, it is just a matter of how intense and how long it will last afterwards. Some days is it not to bad and is a level 1 or 2 that last for 4-5 hours and some days it is a level 10 that last for 10 hours. In the last 5 days I have had 3 level 10 days. The average over all 13 weeks is 2-3 of the really bad days per week. I take a stool softener every day, watch what I eat and drink 6-8 bottles of water a day. So to say I am frustrated is an understatement.
My question is this, do I go back to the surgeon that did the surgery and told me I would be good in 3 weeks? Or do I find another surgeon and get a second opinion on my situation. I scared to do either because I know how much an examination is going to hurt.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Dan,
I thought my surgeon underplayed the recovery time and level of pain. Maybe we wouldn't have had surgery if we'd known. Im not sure this is a reason to query his overall competence so I'd go back to discuss it with him first and a second opinion if not convinced. Lets hope its taking an age but is healing rather than it not working

Yea, not sure if I would do it again or not, but the hemorrhoids did hurt enough that I signed up in the first place, so I do remember that pain level. I just hope my DR didn't cause a stricture or something by taking to much out. Hopefully I will find out tomorrow what he thinks is going on.

Yes i got a fissure which I've had botoxed 3 weeks ago. Due to that i haven't experienced the full benefits of the original hem surgery that my surgeon said has worked.
Good luck with your appointment.

I'm 4 weeks post op from external gems and I had a fissure. I use to hurt for hours after a BM before surgery but 2 weeks after surgery no more pain. Sounds like you might have a fissure. They hurt hours after a BM. I would check back with your doctor. Research fissure. It's a tear.

Thanks for the response, I don't really know how big they were, I just know he said 3 internal ones he cut out. I went ahead and made an appointment of tomorrow, so I will find out then.

I'm so sorry to your experience. Please read my 2 other responses for my experience.
Please try green juice(I mixed with fruits too). Quit fast food/deep fried/spicy/strong taste... The result is almost same day for me. It's amazing. Good luck.
