should i go to the hospital?

I have impacted stool. Its day 7 of not pooping (last time i did i was in the hospital for constipation and hemorrhoids) and i went to the clinic yesterday and they told me to take Magnesium Citrate and if i didnt poop i guess my this noon i should go to the hospital. I took it 10 last night and its 8. 10 hrs later way after it shouldve worked.. my stool is lower for me to touch but it feels to big to push out and hard to take out. My mom wants to do it but i'd rather her not (we dont have the best relationship so i dont want her finger there) and a professional do it. My stomach hurts like i should go but i feel my stool is stopping it. Should i try again before my mom tries to attack me down there. And when should i stop trying because i dont want to do further damage. I took enema last night i only leaked and had blood. Idk if i should go to the hospital please help

Hi ana, firstly I feel for you as a sufferer of ibs c, I know how it feels to have bowels that get bunged up, but NOT this badly, why aren't you in hospital or seeing a doctor NOW, insist and make sure someone TODAY!  You shouldn't be this bad and be left this long! Please go to your doctors and don't say you can wait for an appointment say it 's a medical emergency!  Good luck, you need someone to listen to you and do something NOW!

7 days of constipation and impacted stool are not necessarily the same thing. I have been 7 days without going many times. It is at this point I take laxatives to make me go. You need a stool softening laxative like movicol.

If you can't get this over the counter you might have to go to the gp.

This is interesting. I went to hospital a few months ago as an outpatient because a GP thought I might have appendicits.

It ended up that I had Faecal Impaction but I was actually opeing my bowels.

Yes its weird isn't it. You can get overflow diarrhoea which can make it seem like you're going when you actually have impaction.

My mum is on morphine and she couldn't go for è weeks. She got so ill they rushed her to hospital thinking she had impaction and would need surgery, but she wasn't impacted.

Update: i just got out and they didnt do anything! They gave me that bigass bag of enema. Some sort of soap enema. Then that was it. The enema and leakage came out and my actual poop tried to but rumbled and stayed. I keep having to and i keep straining but i cant even touch it unless i actually put my finger in. I tried taking it out but i couldnt. I wanted the doctor to but she didnt recommend it because of my age (17) and wanted it to happen "naturally" aka using a supository and stool softener. Like i have to go NOW. Idk wat to do i'll try again tonight but tmrrw will be day 8. Ugh what should i do?!

Yes Ana go to either your GP or A&E if you have been advised to.

I can alternate between constipation and loose bowels.  I have more constipation and if I havent gone to the toilet for 3-4 days I take Normacol Plus.  Your GP can prescribe this but you can also buy this at the pharmacy is about £12.00 a box and helps things run smoothly.  Obviously I dont take this during the times I am the other way.

Dont delay in getting yourself sorted.  You didnt say whether you are taking medication which can cause constipation.

    Hope you get sorted ASAP.

And i've tried miralax, all kinds of enemas, lactoluse, and my pediatric prescribed Magnesium Citrate and if that didnt work go to the hospital.. they didnt manually remove it like she saidthey would. Should i have my mom try to she keeps insisting it and i think make me

You shouldn't really do manual evacuation yourself as it's very easy to damage your bowels. Keep going with laxatives. You need to keep taking hem til something happens, not just take one dose.

When I hadn't been for nearly 2 weeks my Dr told me to take 8 sachets of movicol ( think this might be like miralax) in one litre of water each day til I went. This face me diarrhoea but I went lol

Hi ana, I know what you mean by lactulose it does similar to fybogel, laxido or any of those relaxants, try to take fresh orange juice if you can, then try bran or soemthing that is high in fibre too.  You may have a faecal impactin but I fear the hospital may give you the same as the doctors will but with the risk of picking up something far more scary in hospital!  Try getting some Kolanticon gel which may on top of the lactulose help to make your bowel work.  Good luck that sounds a bad thing to live with, are you stressed?  If so may be some yoga or something like that may help?
