Should I have a period?

Hello all, when I see my consultant in November to have the endometriosis removed he said that I should continuly take my pill to prevent my periods, I have only had one period since then but now I am nearly at end of four months back to back pill and the pains I have been getting are really bad and preventing me functioning normally should I attempt to have a break from my pill or continue? I am awaiting date to remove fibroid which he discovered on last surgery. I really don't know what to do for the best.

Thanks in advance

Have you told the doc/nurse about the pain, periods and pills?

Yes but not since diagnosis before they told me to back to back my pill 3 monthly and take cocodamol now I'm just confused as consultant doesn't want me to have a period at all but it feels like my body is constantly wanting one? Consultant asked me to change my pill but due to side effects of the one he suggested being hair loss I chose not to as my hair seems to be thinning/falling out. Thanks for replying 🙂

I understand about the hair loss.

Regarding your body feeling like it wants a period: the pill tricks your body so it thinks it's pregnant. Perhaps what you feel is the sensation of early pregnancy, sometimes referred to as a heaviness or as feeling much more attached to the ground than when not pregnant. To me, it's just a sensation and one gets used to it, but we're all different. If you possibly can stick with it thru this next procedure, I personally would try. I however never had any problem being on BCP and many women do. Perhaps looking at it as one day at a time might help? It is at best irksome that BCP no longer grant much pain abatement; in private I state that much more succinctly and pithily.
