I too have osteoporosis.  About four years ago I stupidly walked down the stairs, (wooden open tread by the way), without any shoes on, I slipped and landed very heavily on my bottom.  I was in pain for a few weeks and just put up with it and it gradually got better.   A year or so ago I went for a CT scan for an abdominal problem and had a letter to say they had found nothing wrong except that at some time I had sustained a compression fracture of my L4 vertebrae.  I believe this was caused by the fall on the stairs.  I sustained a cracked rib just by tucking in a sheet on a bunk bed by leaning across the metal bars surrounding it.  Only last year I slipped on the path in the garden and broke my femur clean in half, an injury that's usually caused by a high impact thing like a car accident so yes, I think you should go along to A&E to get it checked out.
