Should I increase my prednisolone?

im just wondering what to do, I had a dental procedure Wednesday night for my dental implants, the day of the procedure I took a double dose of prednisolone as instructed by the implant guy, since then I am sore and swollen obviously,  but I also have picked up my husbands cold, sore throat virus, I have taken the normal 10mg since but just wondering if there is a lot going on at the moment should I'd be taking more prednisolone?

Not really at that dose unless you feel really wobbly - it is above the amount your body would produce normally. That does mean your adrenal glands won't produce much extra in response to stress but I have had minor procedures done without any extra pred without problems and I never tke extra because of a cold, not that I get a major one more than once a year!

Thank you, I just know that when reducing people say they have trouble getting underv10 mg so just wondered if these symptoms together with the procedure would cause me a problem, I'm glad really as have had a Sharkey couple of weeks with the pain and prednisolone reduction, so don't want to complicate things.

Thanks again, your opinions are very valuable.

Some people have trouble at 10mg, others at about 7mg - and I suspect it is the difference in how much pred they are absorbing, it can be anything between 50% and 90% - a big difference. I think it is better in the long run to see how you get on - if you DO feel wobbly then take an extra mg or two for a couple of days, you can go straight back to the old dose if it is only a few days. But why add if you don't need it?

Are implants worth the process? Not that I could afford them! The beautiful crown inlay I got about a year ago was eyewatering enough! And then the assistant called me before xmas to inform me it came with a guarantee - that meant having a hygienst appointment every year. Strangely, OH's a year or 2 before hadn't entailed such a commitment. Apart from the fact I've never been to a hygienst in my life - scales and polishes have always been done by a dentist - the cost over 5 years was about the same as the crown...

The reason why I'm having them is the sjogrens was undiagnosed for years and I had such a dry mouth I ended up losing all my left side upper and lower teeth. Also bone was minimal so I needed permanent left upper as the lower will have to be dentures but nothing to hold the upper dentures in as no bone and at 53 I thought of it as an investment initially. But as the process has gone on teeth being extracted all in one go!!! Then 6 weeks later bone graft and sinus elevation, now 6 months later the implant posts have gone in, I realise I can't taste much and it's not improving, so now wondering it's not an investment for enjoying food.  But might look better re cheeks will bee plumped out when the teeth go in I hope,, rather than plump and saggy with the prednisolone lol.

I have but one thing to add to all the other comments. I am so sorry you're going through all this. I've never had anything but one tooth pulled at a time. I can't imagine having more than one at a time pulled but then to also get the flu or a cold on top of that you must be miserable. You have all my sympathies. You take care of yourself honey.

This is not a medically educated answer, but an answer having regard for your own body....which has the ability to heal itself.

allow your body to heal, don't be impatient. Paracetamol will help you with the pain.Ovviously take the recommended dose by your Rheumy, but Pred is.not a quick fix. Use it in moderation, allow nature to help you, don't be too reliant on drugs.

Thank you all for your input. I will be patient. I have taken paracetamol mainly for the cold and throat symptoms. It's early days I know, I just wanted to know if I was doing things right and not missing something that would have helped.

I'm desperate to please all sides the dental the PMR, Sjogrens and the thyroiditis.
