Should I make an appointment to see my doctor?

I just recently ate some homemade cake my friend made and I'm really concerned that the food ended up in my lungs. I went to the ER and they told me I look fine and asked me a bunch of questions, but they never bothered to check my throat out since they said I'm not showing any sign of me having a life threatening problem. And it just seems like I'm experiencing anxiety. I'm experiencing some chest pain and I'm wondering if a piece of food ended up in my lungs. I'm not coughing on the food or anything, but I'm just experiencing only one symptom and my anxiety is making the chest pain worst. I can't seem to relax now that my life could be in danger or not. Should I go see my primary doctor or listen to what the doctors at the ER told me?

The anxiety is putting negative thoughts into your mind. Listen to the ER doctors. They are professionals and they know what they’re doing. There are hundreds if not more people that have experienced what you have and these doctors have seen it all. If you had even the tiniest amount of food in your lungs, you would be in severe distress! The lungs are a very sensitive Organ .

Think about when we have even a little bit of mucus in our lungs how much we cough and don’t feel good. Food would be even worse.

if you are eating and swallowing now, then everything is going down!

they didn’t check your throat because if there was food stuck in your throat you wouldn’t be able to breathe or talk or anything. So there was no reason to check that. They saw that you were talking and breathing and doing OK.

Remember, you need to look at the facts and not the fear. Fear is only based on emotions which are not reality. The facts are that you went and got checked out and everything is fine. Start doing things to stay busy so your mind isn’t always going there.

you are FINE!! listen to some relaxing meditations for anxiety and overthinking. take care

Yeah, you're absolutely right. It's just my anxiety causing me to overthink a lot whenever I have a symptom of something that causes me to panic right away. Thank you Jan for responding and letting me know that everything will be fine. I'll just listen to the doctors and not make any appointments since me talking and breathing, are good indicators that I'm mostly fine.
