Should I start taking sertaline?

So I have been to see my GP today as I've been having panic attacks/anxiety for a long while now. He has referred me and prescribed 50mg of sertaline every day, however I've been reading up on the side effects and was wondering how I am supposed to carry on with work if I could experience dizziness, nausea, diarrhoea and confusion? I was just wondering if any of you take this and managed to get through work in the first few weeks without any problems?

Hi Hannah, Ive not been on sert but id recommend you give it a try at least to see how you get in with it, you may find any side effects mild enough for you to continue to work.

Hi Hannah , side effects I had was sweats , heightened anxiety couldn't keep still uhhh don't want to scare you but I got bad thoughts but that probably because of the state I was in , not gonna lie it's the hardest thing I've done but I'm starting to notice glimmer of good and I'm on 4th week in , it does somtimes make you worse before better but apparently it's worth it , I used it last year also to get me through a bad stage and it worked , I only get a week belly if I don't eat much and just have tablets on empty belly , goodluck hope your good

Well I just stopped mine after taking it for 10 days. Worst 10 days of my life. Best decision ever (for me). Thank you God 🙏

    Hi Hannah,

I was the same :-( I had anxiety, panic attack, terrible physical symptoms.... I felt awful!!!! Doc gave me 50 mg and I read a lot and was even more scared !!!! After 2 month I decided will try with 25 ( half of the tablet ) mg and felt much better. I did take it evening so I didn't have terrible side effects really. But I'm still on 25 mg. Try like me and if you feel you can go up any time. I think 50 mg too much to start.

    I'm glad I did started. Probably I would feel 100 % if I would take 59 mg but with 25 mg I'm 90 % ok.
