Should I take PPIs? Risks vs reward...

Hi everyone - need your help!

Had hiatus hernia diagnosed during gastroscopy yesterday - 4cm in size. No other stomach issues or Barrett's Esophagus.

Suffering from indigestion pain and currently on 30mg Lanzoprasole, but endoscopist suggested doubling to twice a day.

Considering no evidence of stomach cancer, I can accept that my symptoms are due to the hernia by my dilemma is that from what I understand, long term PPI use increases gastric cancer risk. At the same time I want to protect my stomach and esophagus from acid damage.

Anyone in a similar position or have any advice?

Thanks

Pete
