Should I up my dose even more then I have

I've been at 13.5 mg for two weeks. Yesterday I woke up with extreme back pain. Since I already have lower back pain from another condition I didn't give it much thought other than to treat with ice. But I woke up at 12:30 at night and my hands arms ankles and feet hurt so bad that I realized I'm in a flare. A flare is no surprise since I am waiting on test results from my tongue biopsy I had two weeks ago. So I have been stressing a lot about whether I have oral cancer or not. Anyway and about 2:30 I took 2 mg of prednisone. The relief has been minimal st best. I usually will respond fairly quickly to a dosage. So my question is: Should I up it more than the 2 mg or should I try that dosage again with my next round and see what happens?

Difficult to say - what does your rheumy say to do with a flare? Mostly you are likely to need 5mg more than where a flare happened - and it may be more. There is no real way of telling.

amkoffe, we are all different, but I just had a little flare at 15 mg increased to 20 mg for three days and seem to have it under control. I want to stay active so I try and control the PMR pain. 5 mg seems to do it for me.

Good luck, get that smile on your face.🙂

Waiting for results for two weeks alone would make me flare!! I just don't see the point of suffering like you are. After you settle down with the stress you can always taper down again...I would not hesitate to get up the dose. Am I to understand that you did a taper at the same time as your tongue diagnosis? You need to rest and take more prednisone until the dust settle💕 Hope your biopsy is ok, let us know!
