Wondering if i should slightly increase dose to 15mg. Originally on cit for couple months for intrusive thoughts and anxiety from zop withdrawal. Swapped to sertraline because hair problems but made me worse. Back on cit fir 4 weeks, just seem to have gained some additional intrusive thoughts last week or so and not seeing any improvement. First time round it did seem to slightly improve things. just wondering how long to leave before try slightly higher dose, bit wary as first couple weeks were awful but don't want to stay on too low dose if its not going help me?

      Hi James.

The first two weeks at least of starting Citalopram or changing the dose are usually not very nice. After 11-14 days both times on the medication these symptoms wore off for meand the anxiety gets less and less. Have you been taking for a week and 3 days or just 3 days?

I would stick with 10mg, don't change dose when you're in the first few weeks. It takes weeks not days for Citalopram to work properly. What you are experiencing now is completely normal and most of us on this forum have been through it or are currently going through it like you are.

Try mindfullness meditation apps - breathing really does help. Could you ask your GP for something like Propranolol to help reduce your physical symptoms whilst the Citalopram kicks in? That's what I am doing as I have recently changed dose to 20mg and the Propranolol really helped me.

Thanks, I'm hoping 15mg will help, wanted to stay on 10mg, but after previously trying it for 2 months then for a month this time without it helping and symptoms getting slightly worse felt given it a good go. Very trial and error depending what your symptoms are I think, whether because mine all caused by zopiclone withdrawal the 10mg not quite high enough I don't know, as it;s only small increase hoping won't be too bad! Hope you soon improve.
