Shoulder issues- will this end up in surgery

I was an avid weight lifter for the past 3 years.  This fall I began to notice that my shoulder was always sore.  Thinking I was over doing it, I backed off of lifting.  During Christmas I noticed it was not improving and I could hardly move my arm out or behind me.  Sleeping has become a burden.

I went to the doctor this winter and he referred me to physical therapy which I have been doing 2 times a week along with home exercises 3 times a day.  I think my shoulder is getting worse.

I had an mri done last week and now being referred to orthopedic.  Mri stayed that I have glenohumeral Chondromalacia,  tendinosis in the myotendinous junction, and chronic impingement.

Am I looking at surgery here?

I'm sorry you are going through this. I'm not sure what it means as far as you having surgery. Are you in a lot of pain?

I have a labrum tear and tendinitis and I had a frozen shoulder, impingement syndrome...,it's been 8 months and I do physical therapy and ice.

I almost wish I had a tear so I could get surgery and recover but there isn't a tear to fix so I'm stuck.

I wish you luck, keep seeking out information from your doctors.
