Shoulder pain- How to get through this?

Hi, I am desperately looking for advice and support from other sufferers on how to deal with pain.
I am a 45 yr old female, and been suffering for about 6 months with a painful shoulder ( and everything that goes with it) MRI done which showed an impengment and Bursitis but nothing else significant so my GP tells me. Steroid injection done which helped a very small amount. Physio and acupuncture doesn't seem to help. I can't sleep, I have nausea, constipation and feel at my wits end. Pain in my neck, behind ear and headaches recently. I generally feel unwell and feel like I don't know what to do with myself to get myself back to normal. I can't get dressed without pain and help. Taking naproxen, nefopam and paracetamol. I have lost weight and am so miserable.. Sorry for rambling just don't know were to turn GP is useless and the consultant I saw didn't help just said he didn't have a crystal ball to know why or what it is.

Update: went to physio yesterday and he did a very gentle massage. The pain was unbearable in areas and he said that he was literally just stroking my shoulder? He then said he was concerned as the muscles are so tight around my shoulder and the body does this to protect in my case my shoulder. He then went to see if he could get a specialist to take a look. Unfortunately he couldn't locate anyone to look but said he was concerned I had a tear or a unstable shoulder?
He has put me in to do hydrotherapy as this will release the muscles but said he thinks something is not right and I need them to take a look inside.
So the wait continues, when calling the hospital they said they have the referral but it's a long wait!
On the plus side I returned to work today and managed ok although painful now. Hoping work will lift my mood. No point staying off when I am not getting better.
Thanks again everyone for the help and advice

That is no great consolation when you are in so much pain I feel almost guilty that I am doing so well As I say I had to push for a scan which made that particular GP refer me I only waited 3 weeks to be seen but 5 months for the surgery I knew at least something was being done which made it easier to bear
I have a pretty high pain threshold as I have a lot of major abdominal surgery as well as my neuropathic pain Attend pain clinic for over 30 years Always hope for something new and there has been
I am sorry they are saying a long delay is your Physio based at the same hospital ?
Maybe he could speak on your behalf as one professional to another
Just you take care and only do what you are able to within the boundaries you are able to My Physio I.saw privately said it is not a case of no pain no gain It was if it is painful stop !! Hope you get some sleep tonight Sue

Update: My pain is becoming unbearable now, I am signed off work again and called the hospital to see how far along I am to seeing a consultant. Been told I have an appointment! In DECEMBER , I just can't believe this. Apart from doing myself an injury (& I have seriously considered this) I don't know what to do to get some help. I have booked a private consultation with a consultant on 12th may which is £400! Been told it will not get me any further with the NHS but I should get a proper diagnosis. The op is in the region of £6,000 privately I am considering getting a loan to have it done (Although not working money will be tight) I just don't know what to do anymore. No one will help. Every morning I wake is another day of pain. Xx

So sorry to hear that your pain in fact has increased
To expect you to wait until December is unbelievable I was seen in 3 weeks
I think you are doing the right thing in seeing someone privately £400 is lot of money to you but at least if you get a diagnosis it will be worth it Wait and see what the Consultant has to say and what he recommends There may be different Waiting times for different surgery depending on how acute something is Hang fire for now Who told you it would not get you further with the NHS
Was it the hospital or your GP Don't listen to them you have enough to worry about
I have been at the clinic this am Doing very well I saw the pictures of inside of my Shoulder Should be white very r
Pink / red angry looking and saw the tear etc He says the Bursa that was removed will grow back Appt for 5th July 12 weeks post operatively
Was in the Hydrotherapy pool this am for Physio Same next 2 weeks then back to gym I wish I could wave a magic wand for you Do let me know how you get on Thinking about you Sue

Hi Sue, Great to hear you're doing well. How amazing you saw the pictures of inside the shoulder must be so interesting to see. I start Hydrotherapy on the 11th twice a week for 4 weeks, hoping It will ease the pain for me.
I am starting to get desperate just hate knowing what the day holds being in pain.
The consultants private secretary when I booked said she had to mention to me that I would not jump the line even paying privately to see him.
I will update once I have seen consultant. Wishing you a speedy recovery & thank you for the message xx

I cannot believe any medical professional will keep a patient in pain for 7 more months - and that's just until someone sees you. I am in the United States and while appointments to see specialists can take awhile, 7 months is unheard of. Is there another place you can go?

Hello Sue,
How are you doing? I hope you're doing well. I have had a dygnosis from the shoulder specialist I saw privately. He diagnosed a frozen shoulder. So I have a long journey ahead of me x

Thanks for that I suppose she has to say that as maybe people do think they will jump the line. That said my Sister saw a surgeon privately She didn't skip the queue but I definately think that she had her surgery sooner than she would have had she not seen him.
For a start you are not waiting that prolonged period to be seen You will at least know what you are dealing with. Stay strong!
