Shoulder Problems

I am a 40 year old female and have been experiencing extreme pain in both of my shoulders, on and off for three years. I've been to see my GP numerous times about it and was referred to Rheumatology. I've had blood tests done to check for arthiristis, an xray done and an ultrasound and all came back normal. I have seen various physios and tried lots of exercises but nothing helps. I can go for weeks at a time without any pain and then when it starts it can be in either one shoulder or both and can last for days/weeks. It hurts at the top of my shoulders and spreads to my neck and front of my chest (clavicle). It can be so debilatating that I struggle to get up when lying down and I can barely pick things up/lift my arms. My right shoulder crunches and feels like my bones are grinding. I've honestly had enough and my doctor just prescribes me Naproxen but it doesn't really help. Any advice would be appreciated.

    hi melissa

i was like you thinking my shoulder pain was something else but when the doc said he heard grinding noises, he thought it was mechanical & suggested an MRI. that showed a rotator cuff tear & now i'm 2weeks out from surgery to repair it.

i suggest you see a shoulder specialist & have the MRI done
