Shoulder trauma with swelling 10 days ago

10 year old healthy Male - injured shoulder playing sports- initial ER visit and X-rays ruled out break or fracture-

Limited movement upon initial onset of injury but each day has been better and now has full range of motion, sometimes slower and with slight discomfort, but full range. - knot appeared at neckline two days post injury and has not gone away. Approximately 3.5 x 4 cm

Tender to touch but not sore. Does not feel like fluid when palpatated or touched. Feels hard-

Any ideas as to cause of knot? When it might go away?

Best to see a doctor on this one smile especially if you play sports you'll want to heal

properly---could be damaged nerves or tendon, don't guess asking the internet for a diagnosis

    Best wishes on speedy recovery

I would recommend seeing an orthopedic specialist as well. It's hard to guess without seeing. Even if x ray ruled out fractures...which is a good start, a closer look by an expert (not general practitioner) is best. A referral to a Physical Therapist would be in order. They have a better understanding of what the knot might be and at least keep an eye on it. They may even recommend MRI if it does not go away. they can at least assess the strength to see if it's normal and sometimes an imbalance of muscles could cause an injury, predict an injury and strengthening can resolve an injury or prevent a future one.
