Hi as some of you may have seen from another post I had my operation a week ago total. I just wondered how you are managing about showering.

Put plastic chair in the shower, protect your leg this plastic bag. Nice if somebody can help you. After2 weeks you can wash you leg, I didn't. Just  pour some salt water gently, I am on my 4 week, no pain, scar not scary anymore. Forget to mention- avoid soup on your leg, better just salt wafer. Good luck and be careful!

I only had baths as found it easier to prop my foot up on the side.  Even now I prefer baths as it is sore underfoot on the tile floor in the shower whereas soaking my foot is nice as long as water not too hot on sensitive scar.

    Hi,

I to find it easier to just stick my foot outside the tub. I feel it's safer just in case I slip. I have no weightberring so it's a lot easier if I can sit.

My foot is on the wrong side to hang out of the bath. I think I will try the plastic bag method...

Hi, I was warned off plastic bag by my consultant and even the special foot/leg cover you can buy.  He said that the pin could damage it and if my foot got wet it could get infected.  My husband helped me initially over the bath for my hair.  Then I got brave and sat on the edge of the bath one leg in and one leg out and used the shower like that leaning into the bath.  Not overly comfy but got better as I got braver!!!!  Better than not having a shower at all😊. We do have a shower cubicle too but difficult to put your leg outside of that.  Hope this helps.

Don't risk getting it wet as it can cause problems that you don't want.  I initially put a plastic bag around it on the edge of the bath just to be sure.  Be careful!

      good luck

My husband washed my hair over the bath in week one... Other than that I have been managing with good old fashion strip washes with a real sponge. I think I will do that for another week and then see what my consultant says. My dressing feels like it is getting looser by the day and I don't want to take any risks. Going to try another hair wash this afternoon. 😄

I am seven  weeks post toe fusion & since day two I have showered and bathed every day with the help of a cast cover I got from Amazon for. Ten pounds. Never leaked once and has been a godsend. Good luck!

    Hi,

I had a bath chair I used and kept the other leg out of the water. We have a shower connected to the bath so I used that to shower myself with x
