Shrinking perineal skin ?

Posted , 7 users are following.

Hi everyone

does anyone feel that their perineum is getting smaller and shrinking too?

I don’t know if this is a sign to apply more steroid or less, or would oestriol cream help? I am using Nerisone Forte twice a week.

Any thoughts welcome

thank you so much

Hi Violet, my started to rip sadly. I use dermavate cream and had an operation in February this year (my labia had sealed and I was having difficulty urinating too. Fortunately it was successful and things are looser again.. I personally keep everything well lubricated with coconut oil and use dermavate if I start feeling sore.

      Hi George

Thank you for your reply. That sounds awful for you . Did the perineum split?

Did you have the Fenton’s procedure ?

I wonder if any else has had this happen to them or the Fenton’s?

Lots of different experiences as I am finding out on this forum

Very good news that you are on the mend now and are healing well . Wishing you a full recovery.

Hi yes it was the Fentons procedure. He also cut the fused labia to give some definition and more movement.. he was excellent. Yes the perineum had torn.. I also get piles now which I never had a problem with. I notice a correlation between flare ups and oestrogen levels..im 45 and have been on hrt for 2 years. When my oestrogen is dropping I get noticeably more sore/ pustules. I did try dermavate ointment as heard it was better but I really didn't react well...the cream is much better for me. It really does seem so varied doesn't it. I hope more people respond to your question..theres a lot of experience out there.

      Hi George

Hi Violet, I’m glad you asked this, because I’ve been wondering the same thing myself.   It’s hard for me to tell because I have just as much problem with that area as I do labial and clitoral area.   Pretty much every time I have a bowel movement I rip, tear, and bleed.  Always itchy.    I’ve had much more “constipation” lately, but I’ve been wondering if things are just smaller making it harder to go, versus actually being constipated.

I use my clobetasol on that area in the worst times which seems to help after about 24 hours.

      Hi Jaceygirl

Sorry you have this problem too .

I also have as much problem that end as the other end in the vulva, which got me thinking, so I will up the steroid application as Karen suggests.

I am going to see my GP this week, to see if I can be referred to a hospital specialist for an opinion.

Still can’t decide if it’s normal ageing (62) or LS or both ? either way it’s not great is it.

Will send an update if I get any news.

      Thanks again.
