sick and tired

In 2014 after suffering with sinus pain, infections and constant post nasal drip (never sneeze and never get itchy eyes). I saw a piece on the local news for balloon sinuplasty and after having the procedure, my sinus pain has only been an issue once.
Although it also helped with ear pain, I've been in pain for much of the past 3-4 months. Im also experiencing dizziness. My ENT has me on sprays and Singular and wants me to treat my allergies and "give it time". I'm sick of the pain and fatigue.
Has as anyone had similar symptoms and experienced hope through Eustacian tube balloon dilation? I'm starting to doctor shop - I don't believe my ENT is yet versed in the procedure

Hello, I'm guessing you live in the States. I live in England and suffer the same as yourself. Sinusitis is a miserable condition and sometimes can be very painful. When mine flares up I get very bad headaches, pain in my neck and occipital bones, pain above my eyebrows and below in my cheeks. At times it makes my top teeth ache too and my left eyelid becomes swollen if that's the side affected. Are you suffering from Eustachian Tube Dyfunction ? Many of us on this forum do and in my humble opinion, that's far worse than sinus issues. Having blocked ears is so dibilitating. Maybe you have a sinus infection, in which case you'll need antbiotics. I don't think you have to have all of the common symptoms for allergies....sneezing etc. However, you could still have them. Maybe try antihistamines for a while to see if they help. I take Citrizine daily. I also is Flixonase steroid nasal spray twice daily. My ENT consultant won't use the Balloon diation on me, for whatever reason. I feel so lucky right now with my ears, having taken a 20 day reducing course of Prednisolone Steriod tablets. Ears are clear, post nasal drip has gone, sinus pain gone and headaches too. All these may return, but to have some relief for a few months has been brilliant.
I hope you find relief soon too, as blocked ears can go on for years and years as mine have.

Thanks Anne. I do have allergies and my ENT suggests treating that aspect. I'm at wits end and don't want to wait 6 months for allergy shots to make a difference (maybe make a difference)
I had balloon dilation on my sinus canals and that was most helpful. My ENT simply reviewed results from a CAT scan and recommended the procedure.
I'm going to book in with my ENT as my follow up isn't until 2 weeks from this Friday. The prednisone you recommend would be nice to get some relief!!
im going to look in to finding an ENT who is versed in balloon dilation of the Eustacian tube. Seems to be a logical solution to me

Le me know how you get on and the very best of luck.....pollen very high at moment in England, as we're experiencing some lovely hot weather, which is unsual for this country. My allergies are all year round what is called Rhinitis. House dust (which is impossible to keep down) and so much more. But I can handle all that so long as my ears stay clear !!

Well I only know that I have ETD because my dr told me that. She gave me prednisone 20MG for 5 days and it didn’t do a thing!! I’m really conserned that the dizzy feeling never goes away! It’s a weird feeling not exactly dizziness, it just feels like my head is heavy and kida off balance. I have a list of things I might have and I will be discussing everything with a neurologist on Tuesday. I live in the us. Lawrence, Kansas. Did you figure out wats wrong with you?

Hello again Lena,
I don't think that 20mg for only 5 days is long enough. So many people on this
Forum are only given a weeks course, which in my experience just isn't enough.
When our ears are blocked for so long you need at least a 20 day, but reducing the
tablets after a few days. I was on that amount last year in April and they did the trick
for me. Even my smell and taste returned once all the inflammation had gone. I
then reverted back on to steroid nasal drops, which I now only have to use approx.
every 4/5 days, like yesterday, quite a bad episode of both ears blocking, for whatever
reason, I used the drops and within an hour all clear again. So I'll have relief for
probably another 5 days, hopefully.
Mine problem like I've said, is sinusitis and allergies.....dread when the pollen starts
up again.
Let me know ho you get o n at your appt.

Hi I am coming in to ask if youve had covid by any chance as this can cause ETD and balance/dizziness issues. I had covid 10 months ago and have not been well since. I've been waiting for 18 weeks to see an ENT specialist and am also waiting for a decision from the Long covid team. The covid vaccines have also been causing tinnitus and hearing loss in droves.

I had Covid 6-7 months ago & problems with my ears/earaches ever since. I also feel like i have never fully recovered. I think ETD is becoming a more known long covid issue... its driving me nuts. I have been in pain for 6 months with fluid trapped in my ears, headsches, my cheeks/jaw & points all over my head ache off & on... decongestants, nasal sprays & decongestants have helped a lot, but i cant seem to get rid of it. I saw w doctor that helped with prescribing decongestants etc, but i think i need to see an ENT now.

To clear eustachian tube of bad ear
Close nostril with finger on side of good ear
Breathe in through nostril on side of bad ear
Close nostril with finger on side of bad ear
Breate out through the nostril on side of good ear
This seems to give me some benefit. Try it.

I was also suffering with almost constant post nasal drip and ETD. No other allergy symptoms. No runny nose, no sneezing, no itchy eyes. I used several allergy meds without much help so I was skeptical it was allergies. At my last ENT visit they suggested allergy shots.
I also experience dizziness, tight muslces, neck pain, shoulder pain, sinusitis without a cause, ETD, temple pain, pain in front of my right ear, fatigue etc.. I am now being treated for TMD. I don't have jaw pain but it was diagnosed by taking measurements. I've already had a lot of improvement and I am hoping this is the cause and that I keep improving. I never knew all of my symptoms were symptoms of TMD. My first ENT back in Jan. poked in my mouth and since it didn't hurt she said I didn't have it.

I know your post was a while ago, but I have the same symptoms!! My most concern is the dizziness!!! I’v has it for 3 month and it will not ago away. I’m so tired and depressed , plus fatigue is making me feel ill! Did you get an answer yet? I was diagnosed with Eustacian tube dysfunction that is caused by allergies! But nothing helped ! Please I would like to hear from you. Thanks!

Morning Lena, Are you sure you're not suffering from Meniers disease...Google and look
up the symptoms.
I know ETD can cause dizziness too. What country do you live in. If England, I can
recommend a good medication for ETD.
