I’ve been off gabapentin for approx 18 days! Does this horrible withdrawal ever go away?

    Help,

I am mid 50’s phycially in decent shape, have lost 23 lbs in last few months on Weight Watchers, and am now below 25 BMI.

I have been on Gabapentin for <7 months for back problems. I was only taking 300mg a day and had no issues.

About 2 weeks ago back doctor asked me to please start taking 2 and if possible 3 a day.  So I went up to 2 a day.

Since then I have been to my GP 4 times (he knows all my meds) because I have not been feeling right.

    Symptoms:

    Rapid heart beat

    Severe Shortness of breath

    Weakness

    Tiredness

Restless sleep and high resting heart rate.

    Shakes

    Mispronouncing words I know

I have had blood test (for heart enzymes  and lung embolism and more) , chest x-ray and a CT scan of lungs to find out why I can’t breathe.  Nothing, so they give me an inhaler and said try this for 10 days.

    No real help

Today I could barely walk thru the store I was so weak, heart racing and shaking. I got in my car and cried.

    I can’t keep doing this. I’m scared and don’t know what’s wrong.

That’s when I decided to look up side effects of Gabapentin and found this discussion.

From what I read I may be on the right track and need to back off this med quickly.  But it sounds like I could have withdrawal problems  and the side effects could last a year,

Have I misread or does that about sum up things here?

Am I on the right track? Could this really be what is causing all my problems?

I hate new meds and fought taking this one. Then I finally agreed, now I may regret the decision.
