Sick of hip pain already!

hi im 47yo and 3 weeks post-op tomm for THR ( total hip replacement.) due to co gential hip dyplasia, in short my ortho found a birth defect that wasnt fixed after birth. My question is how long does it take to get off pain med? I have a lot of pain in my butt and inner thigh as well. I know there are days Ive over done. However my activity is still very limited if i dont wont to take pain med. Very impatient. Im ready to be pain free and be able to start working out as I was before my defect was discovered. I am on a cane and PT says im doing way better than most THR patients.
