Sick with mono for months causing severe depression

Hello, I was officially diagnosed with mono about 2 months ago but have been sick off & on since Nov 2021 . My lymph nodes in my neck are so swollen again that it limits my movements. I thought I was on the mend but the past week I have gone down hill. I keep having severe clear nasal drainage that pours out, which seems to be worse at night. Sore throat, loss of appetite, extreme fatigue and now I have tingling in my hands and feet! I am on a Symbicort inhaler twice a day to help with the chronic cough. I am a full time sales rep with young twin daughters. I feel like everyone expects me to be better but I just don't feel normal. I am ready to give up. I just want to feel like myself again. I am getting worried & depressed. There isn't a lot of answers out there and I am desperate. I cannot take much more. These past few months have been a nightmare. Help? Now what do I do? Calling Dr. again but he doesnt seem that concerned ? 😦

hi isabel your right its horrible. This page is a real help and you will find lots more people that will help on here. Its just nice to talk to people who know what its all about as its so frustrating and vague. Just rest and try to relax as much as you can

Hi Isabell,
It is a terrible virus physically, mentally and emotionally. Time is the only cure unfortunately. Anti inflammatories help. Rest is important as much as you can, it can go on for a long time and then you will start having short windows of time where you feel normal and it continues up and down for a period of time and then goes away. I had it in 2016 and again last year after a bout of covid reactivated it.

hi isabell,
i know exactly how you feel with people expecting you to feel better but you don't. No one can understand how horrible this virus is if they have not experienced it. I found it helpful to see a naturopath- she gave me things to support my immune system which helped. I do agree that time is the only true cure- ive had mono since dec 2021 and it is a rollercoaster recovery. the good thing ive learned through this forum is that even when it seems never ending eventually it does get better.
