Hi, I've been taking sertraline for nearly 2 weeks and wondered if night sweats are a side affect? It's horrible as wakes me up and the bed is soaking, having the windows open doesn't help x

    HI Roo

I have the same problem, terrible night sweats on sertraline and i know exactly how you feel. Its not just a little sweat either. i have been on sertraline for nearly a year now and nearly every night i have the sweats, last night was i think the worst. I woke up early in the morning and i was soaking with sweat, the sheet had two big wet stains and the quilt was soaking, so was i you can actually feel all the water or sweat on your body. Not sure what to do about it but really thinking of coming off these tablets. Not just because of this but also other side effects, mainly my loss of labido, i did actually write to a sexual advice place regarding this and they adviced me to come off sertraline as this is usually given to ppl with a high sex drive wanting to slow down. The other thing i have found is short term memory loss.

    Hope this helps

Hi Roo . yes bad night sweats are a side affect of sertraline.I have been on 100 mg a day for over 2 years now. every night is the same i wake up feeling it running down my chest, some nights i have to change the bed. also before taking them i would say i had a high sex drive, but now i cant be bothered . and to the reply above i also get short term memory loss and find it hard to concentrate some times. i also notice that i seem to be away with the fairies to other people, when they talk to me it takes a while for my brain to register things they say and find i just look at them with a blank expression.....not a good thing when your the manager lol. although these things are sometimes troublesome , at least im not a wreck any more and dont think suicidaly . I would love to come off them but am scared to withdraw. I havnt drank since taking them and sometimes i would just love a little drink.

when first taking them there are a few side affects , but they ware off after a couple of weeks and you do start to be happier and more alive again.hope i havnt put you off them ............good luck sue
