Side effect of Pred ?

Posted , 10 users are following.

Yesterday evening the soles of my feet became very red, burning, felt very hot and prickling.  I had to leave them uncovered to get to sleep. Its the first time it has happened in 3 years of taking Pred.  This morning they were back to normal.  Has anyone else experienced this ?   I mentioned it to the doc this morning, but he had no idea what it was.  I have been on Amoxicillin for nearly 4 days, but he didnt think it was that either.

    Hello~

At night sometimes my palms and soles of feet feel like they are sunburned. I only notice this at night and it's sporadic.  I have GCA, have been on pred for 19 months and currently at 8.5 mg. My doctor didn't comment on it but I'm assuming it's a side effect of the pred

This is to amkoffee and 757gal.   I was told some years ago by a neurologist that I had mild erythromealgia.  I am just wondering if it is to do with that.   It didnt happen again last night, so fingers crossed !

I am on beta blockers which have given me Very cold feet for years, the other option is that they heated up too quickly which can cause burning and prickling and they go bright red.  I think that is a form of Raynauds.    I think that is also more likely if you already have an auto immune disease.

Many years ago my then-husband experienced the same thing with his feet. He was quite uncomfortable so we went to the doctor's office. The doctor said it was an allergy but I couldn't understand that since there was no rash. He said the rash was on the inside and he treated it as an allergy. Lo and behold by the end of that day he broke out in a rash on his feet and ankles. It cleared up eventually and it never happened again but I was struck by how unusual that was. I'm only telling you about this because I suspect it might be an allergy to amoxicillin that is affecting your feet.
