Hi sorry to question again!! But I seem to be irritable and aggitated at times can be sharp and shout! I am on day 10 of citalopram 20mg I have been depressed for years with anxiety stressful situations make me worse I have always been irritable I suppose probably one of my dress ice symptoms! I used to hate when plans changed and I would get really upset and annoyed I recognise that I shouldn't and then the guilt hits! Although being in the cit has helped take the edge off! Is this normal?

Thank

Emz

Hi Emz..you describe me perfectly !..I've come to realise it's part of my make up and am learning to deal with it..have just weaned  myself off cit ...it did help and I  was less stressed ..for a lot of people cit makes anxiety and stress worse to begin with ..I was lucky ..but it did give me insomnia which has done since I came off them..if I could turn the clock back I would never had taken them in the first place ..10mg was enough to take the edge off for me when I was withdrawing which made me wonder if the increase in dosage was needed at all

I had an awful depression I do have three children and the youngest only 20months but for years iv been irritable especially when I miss food and lack of sleep! Cit has took the edge of so far but finding I can be annoyed some mornings suppose the early wakening and insomnia doesn't help! Well done you coming off but since taking them the depression as lifted, the anxiety was thru the roof the first few days! I take half inderal for them!

      Thanks for the reply!

You wil be ittitable with 3 young children ..I too get irritable if I'm hungry ..sometimes I can't get the food into my mouth quick enough !!..lack of sleep will make the nicest person  ittitable .so don't be so hard on yourself.Do you have help with the kids?..a bit of time to yourself would help your mood ...if the cit helps that's fine..go with the flow..and be kind to yourself!!

      regards

Hi Emz, Totally normal id say, its very frustrating to have anxiety/depression because you dont feel 'right' you want to feel 'right/normal' but you dont with will therefore make you frustrated, and when a person is frustrated their behaviour changes, try to ride it out, keep taking the cit, and most importantly id say, altho difficult to do is be patient, I honestly believe patient is massively important, you arent going to feel better overnight, it takes time, so patience is vital. Al the best...Luke
