Side effects,

Good morning,

I've been on 25mg of sertraline for 40 days and uppped my dose to 50mg 3wks ago, I'm still having some real adverse side effects, very anxious, panic attacks, hot and cold flushes, muscle twitching (only when im relaxing and waking up in the morning) restless legs, again whilst im waking up, insomnia, and sometimes just generally out of it, but my mood does feel like its lifting, i suffer with health anxiety and ulcerative colitis which doesn't help, but went to the GP this morning and he wasn't very helpful, said it was up to me if I increase my dose, or come off them all together,

so I'm asking is 3wks enough time for the 50mg to be working, shood I wait a few weeks more on 50mg to see if improve or go up to 75mg,

Thanks alot,

Matt

    Hi Matt

I'm not a Dr... Disclaimer But I can say that each time you increase dose it does take atleast a month sometimes more to level out. I been on sert for nearly 3 months... It's taken 3 months for me to get to 40mg because I increased each time by an EIGHTH of a pill...theres no rush with this... The slower you go the less side effects, and the better you can really potentially feel better on a low dose rather than a high one. I've had almost no side effects. I'd like to add that when I started I went straight onto 25ng and thought I was gonna die. My psychiatrist then stopped it and said I can start on an 8th of a pill and slowly work my way up. It's been the best option. Don't b in a rush to increase. If I was in your position I'd try stick it out for another 2 weeks because as you said your mood is lifting... So the side effects will lessen soon. If you start feeling awesome on your current dose then don't bother increasing. Take it slooow. However obviously you shld check with your Dr as well. I also think you should get a psychiatrist to chat to and look at CBT as well. Let me know how you go.. We are all in this together
