hi just after some advise have recently been taking mirtazapine which is helping with anxiety but I'm having some horrible side effects they have been completely knocking me out for about 12-13 hours a night and when I wake up I feel completely out of it like I can not function .. Also through the day I feel like I'm in a complete days it's horrible plus all my body aches have woken up and can't. Move my neck this morning just feel like I'm proper loosing the plot is this normal I have been on them for about 5 days will this get any better or is it what they do . I was prescribed 15mg but am only taking 7.5 as the 15 I can not function at all..

    Hi,I took 7.5 mg of mirtizapine for three months,and I felt like a zombie you maybe should go back to your doctors and see there's a different  anti depressant,it did help with my anxiety but I couldn t stand the side effects anymore,I have also found the withdrawls very difficult,

      Ok thank u doc is ringing me this afternoon so will chat to her it's just really scary as it's the only thing that stop the anxious feeling but when I go back to work I can't be like this and it's really messing with my head I can't think straight it horrible ..

    The lower dose the more sedative effect u shld have stayed on ur 15 .  I'm on 30 mg had horrible side effects as u describe and after 11 months I'm better still on my med and working full time on a ward as a nurse so a need to have my wits about me . The sleepiness and tiredness goes once ur body has adapted. I'm up at 5 am and I'm fine . Take care .

      Yea a few people have said that ok I will try taking the 15 I also work in a hospital not as a nurse but doing cleaning and food and stuff been off work for 3 months so scared about going back not sure I'm gona be able too hopefully side effects won't take too long to settle . Thank u

      I was off for about four months and was also terrified to go bak. Once the med settles and u get a wee bit of a lift u will start to see things a bit differently . I did and went bak to work gradually now I just get up and don't worry about it x if ur meds make u feel really bad then bak to ur gp. I wld say it took me a good 3 months to feel better hope this helps . Keep talking Thats wat were here for x

      Ps I was on Mirt 30 a few years ago for three years and I experienced no side effects at all x

      I spoke to doc she wants me to carry on she said if things don't get better in couple of weeks then she wants to try venaflaxen but said I have to have blood test and ecg before I can start that . Just feel like I'm stuck and things aren't going anywhere :-( xx

      Hi first week or two on 15mg totally wiped out , pins and needles in face, pressure in head, really bad neck pains, increase in migraines. These all settled a bit after four weeks. Week five bad nausea and bone pains pins and needles all over. Nine weeks in side effects are bearable when i remember how suicidal i was when i went on mirt. Anxiety less also. I wont go up to 30 as scared i will be worse . So ive had to stick it out as my gp wont change as iv tried all the others to no avail. I feel mirt take longer to work but  worth staying on them if  they stop the awful depression, panic and anxiety ,for me they are the reason i am still here.

      I have a really bad neck I thought I had slept funny but it must be the tablets too .. I so scared of what's gona happen with my life I just can't seem to get passed this hump .. These tablets just making it really hard for me to function there's no way I can feel like this and work I am due back after Xmas and really want to b well enough for that x

    It went after a week or so for me and I was able to wake up and stay awke just fine. I'm also on 7.5mg but if it's not too late for you, I mean if you could change this drug onto something less horrid I would strongly recommend speaking to your GP. Coming off mirtazapine is hell.

      ok thank u she wants me to carry on for another week see if it makes a difference it's hard coz it helps the anxiety but just feel so out of it x

      Sleepiness will go for sure. After a few months I'm still on 7.5mg and sleep 7-8h now. Take care x

    The lower the dose the more the sedation is.

    I am on 45mg and take half at night and half in the day. Xx
