hi,

I suffer with health anxiety so I fear I am going to die at any momentleaving my children without a mum!!! (I know it sounds crazy) my gp has prescribed me citalapram and I'm on my 3rd week, I have had many side effects apart from yawning, brain fog and tension in my upper back.. also I think I have been jaw clenching in my sleep which is causing head tension. please can someone relate to how I am feeing and tell me if its normal? I was hoping to start feeling better by now and although I am less tearful and can control my thought a bit better I still have anxiety palpitations! the mornings are the worse for me but I do some breathing exercises before I get up which helps a little. I am off work on the sick at the moment and i am dreading going back. would appreciate any feed back TIA

I recognise all the side effects you are describing, and for me they wear off around week 6 - but in that time some come and some go.

I find the same effects happen when I switch doses too, so watch out for that if you decide to do that later.

The good news is that they do wear off and you're halfway through.

Hugs, from a fellow sufferer of anxiety. Mine isn't health related, but what we feel is!

Citalopram is a good drug for anxiety in my opinion. It is a rough go of it for a few days, to weeks. It really depends on your body, you may not have many side effects.

Each person is different, but I will say this; hang in there and give it your best shot!
